Additional Considerations for Student Divers

To minimise the risk associated with this type of training, a water sills assessment and medical profile evaluation will be conducted during the first meeting of any course. Although it is not required that participants be expert swimmers, they should be comfortable in the water. The water skills assessment includes a swimming evaluation, weight recovery, floating and treading water and an underwater swim. The medical profile evaluation includes a medical history review & assessment of the participants general health related to the demands of scuba training. participants are screened for certain medical conditions that may predispose them too pressure related injuries or training related accidents or future diving accidents

Health & Safety Policy

For

Starfleet Eco Adventures S.A.

 

1.     Starfleet Eco Adventures S.A. (‘Starfleet’) is committed to conforming to the guidelines (although not required by law in Panama) under the:

a.     Health & Safety at Work Act 1974

b.     Diving at Work Regulations

 

2.     To achieve these objectives the Managing Director of Starfleet will have the main responsibility for all health & safety matters arising out of and in the course of Starfleet business including contract work undertaken outside of Starfleet’s usual operating area

 

3.     Starfleet has arranged insurance against liability for death, personal injury and/or disease suffered by any of it’s employees and customers and members of the public if caused by negligence on the part of Starfleet

 

4.     For their part, employees, volunteers and customers, agree contractually to comply with their individual duties under the relevant health & safety legislation.  As such anyone diving with Starfleet are required to complete a liability release and assumption of risk  before taking part in any Starfleet activities

 

5.     In addition to providing an Accident book, Starfleet has instituted a system for reporting accidents, incidents, diseases and dangerous occurrences

 

6.     Copies of this policy and other relevant risk assessment information relating to Starfleet activities will be made available on request
